90th Anniversary António Vieira de Sousa

90th Anniversary António Vieira de Sousa

Porto Wine producers for five generations, the Vieira de Sousa family now surprises with the release of 90 bottles over 90 years old. The wine, named "90th Anniversary António Vieira de Sousa" by his daughters, aged silently in the family’s cellars in a cask among vats and balseiros, and was discovered years ago by his daughter Luísa. This wine was bottled by his two daughters, Luísa and Maria, not only as a tribute to their father but also as a sincere "Thank you." António Vieira de Sousa was always one of the family’s pillars, and thanks to his persistence and entrepreneurial vision, he stored numerous casks of fortified wine over the decades. This determination later enabled the creation of the Vieira de Sousa producing and bottling company. António Eduardo Vieira de Sousa Borges, also known as “Menino António,” was born in Celeirós do Douro on April 9, 1928, son of Jorge Costa Borges de Sousa and Maria Luísa Vieira de Sousa Borges, both descendants of two ancestral Porto Wine families. The wine was bottled in handcrafted crystal bottles produced with gold and silver lettering by Atlantis. The bottles are individually numbered and entirely handmade in Portugal. The box design combines two distinct elements: the place where the cask was found and António’s entrepreneurial spirit. The square shape of the box was inspired by António’s old calculator case, while the materials and colors recall the dark space where the cask was discovered.

Notas de prova

This Porto Wine is the result of over 90 years of aging in a cask, having undergone significant evaporation and consequent concentration. It presents a fantastic unctuosity, a dark greenish color, a refreshing sweetness, toasted coffee notes, and a remarkable acidity. All these characteristics confirm its age… Porto wine holds these magnificent discoveries!
