Porto Wine

Tawny 50 anos

Tawny 50 anos

This Vieira de Sousa Tawny is an exceptional Porto made from several blends with a minimum ageing of 50 years in wooden vats and casks. This prolonged ageing gives it a deep tawny colour, a complex aroma profile, and allows for natural stabilization, resulting in a wine of exceptional quality.

Vinification

This Porto is produced with grapes from our old vineyards across different Quintas along the Douro. Fermentation was carried out in lagares using traditional foot treading. After fortification with grape brandy, this wine aged for many years in wooden vats and casks in our cellars throughout the Douro Valley. Over these long years, the wines were carefully maintained and blended.

Tasting Notes

Toasted, golden colour with a strong greenish halo. On the nose, a wine from another era, yet very lively and delicate. A fabulous concentration of coffee and liqueur comes through on the palate with a long finish. A beautiful crispness concludes this long experience.
