DOC Douro

Unoaked

Unoaked

Our Vieira de Sousa Unoaked is made from grapes sourced from a special vineyard at Quinta da Água Alta, located right on the banks of the Douro River. Despite its proximity to the river, the vineyard benefits from the freshness of the valley where it is planted. Facing east, it is sheltered from the intense afternoon heat. This little corner is perfect for producing balanced and fresh grapes, ideal for this Douro wine.

Vinification

The grapes come from Quinta da Água Alta, from a vineyard of Touriga Francesa with some Touriga Nacional vines. All grapes are carefully hand-selected on a sorting table, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine aged exclusively in stainless steel, in order to preserve the fruit character and texture typical of Touriga Francesa. The 2023 vintage saw a rainy and warm winter, followed by a hot and dry spring, and a summer with normal rainfall, although quite hot. These conditions led us to an early harvest.

Tasting notes

The Unoaked is a very fresh and concentrated wine, with red fruit notes and a rich presence of black berries.
