Porto Wine

Vieira de Sousa Vintage 2022 is produced from a family-owned estate, Quinta da Água Alta and Bom Dia. The vines for this vintage are located at Bom Dia, over 50 years old, facing south/east and planted at the top of the vineyard. More than 10 different grape varieties can be found here. Situated at the top of a cool valley and facing east, this vineyard offers ideal conditions for producing balanced grapes for this special wine. The year 2022 was marked by extreme heat and very limited water availability during the growing season. Ripening was accelerated and yields were slightly lower than in previous years. Despite the challenging conditions, the grapes showed excellent concentration and fruit, resulting in wines with great depth and ageing potential.

Vinification

The grapes were hand-harvested and transported in small boxes. After careful selection at the winery entrance, they were destemmed and fermented in traditional lagares with foot treading, remaining in contact with the skins for several days. At the ideal moment, grape spirit was added, perfectly blending with the must to produce this outstanding Vintage Porto.
